Taught by a Microsoft Certified Trainer with 12 years' hands-on experience across five sectors, from a Biological Science background and Medical Laboratory Assistant to Chief Technology Officer. Holds Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) Level 4, has four years of commercial analytics teaching on-site with customers and has tailored 170+ sessions.
Data Bootcamp
Set your objectives, find your strengths and weaknesses, and explore the niches that suit your personality. A one-size-fits-all “follow these steps” approach isn't right for everyone. You might be drawn to coding (Python, SQL), to building data pipelines that enable self-service, or to visuals and data storytelling. This week is reflection, goal-setting and career strategy, with optional reading set in advance.
Week 1: Tailoring & planning →Every system you use will export to Excel or CSV, so being competent in Excel and Power BI is key. Master the fundamentals with real, hands-on, finance-grade exercises: XLOOKUP, IFS, pivot tables, statistics, Power Query and VBA, then Power BI, often called a “citizen developer” tool because it lets ordinary people work at developer level. You leave with portfolio work and the exact wording used on top-end CVs.
Week 2: Traditional BI skills →Become formally accredited in Microsoft-recognised AI training. Learn how to pass two Microsoft AI exams and how to embed AI into your ways of working: AI agents, prompting, MCP servers and applied AI in analytics. Includes full handouts and slides aligned to Microsoft best practice. Content is updated every two months as the curriculum changes.
Week 3: AI accreditation →Turn everything into interviews and offers: a CV rewrite, portfolio building (not GitHub), interview preparation, project storytelling and ATS optimisation. You finish with a certificate from Vito Schittone graded Merit (you have completed the skills and material to be highly effective) or Distinction (awarded for the highest quality of work, produced without outside help).
Week 4: Bringing it together →Vito's notes include a list of Power BI market statistics. They need a named source and date each, or should be removed (see section 12).
